Henry Lawson 3

The Lawson family moved to Eurunderee, half way between Mudgee and Gulgong, in 1873, when Henry Lawson was six years old. From 1876, there was a small one-room school in the tiny settlement and it still exists close to the ruins of the Lawson cottage that was built by Henry’s father, Lars Lawson.

Later, Henry Lawson returned to Eurunderee and this poem describes his feelings about his childhood home.
